Andy's Dummy Farm 'artist in residence' dead at 96
Humourist Andy MacDonald, a unique personality who occupied a special spot along the Trans-Canada Highway in New Brunswick, has died.
The 96-year-old was the self-appointed artist in residence at Andy's Dummy Farm in Baie Vert en route to the P.E.I ferry. The property there was home to hundreds of homemade dummies made to look people.
The dummies were built out of bleach bottles, junk and oddities. Most clutched a drink of some sort. Each one has a written account of his or her thoughts and name.
MacDonald also wrote several books, including Don't Slip on the Soap and Don't Be Funny Daddy.
MacDonald was born in Sydney Mines, N.S., in 1917. He died at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, N.B.
