New animal control shelter needed in Middlesex

·1 min read

Several municipalities including Southwest Middlesex, Adelaide-Metcalfe, West Elgin, Enniskillen, Petrolia, Warwick, and Dutton-Dunwich will need to find a new animal shelter to help with animal control.

That is because Vicki Kyle, who runs the Glencoe Animal Shelter, has announced her retirement as of June 30.

In her letter to the municipality of Southwest Middlesex, Kyle wrote to express her gratitude and that she is looking forward to slowing down and pursuing new interests.

Adelaide Metcalfe CAO Morgan Calvert passed on his congratulations, but said at the May 16 council meeting that there is now a hole in animal control and that a report is forthcoming.

Calvert said the affected municipalities are working together to put out a request for proposals to find a new animal control provider.
