Anne Hathaway, is that you?
The actor was photographed taking a stroll in Central Park on November 6 in an all-white outfit comprised of a cable-knit cardigan, baggy white pants, and her white Adidas Sambas. Her accessories, which included a nondescript blue baseball cap and oversized sunglasses, added a bit of contrast to the look, but also kind of made her look like Joe Goldberg from You’s creepy female counterpart.
You see it, right?
Try as she might, this outfit did not help Hathaway go completely incognito—even though, as she’s said, “everyone” owns the Adidas Sambas she was wearing. And it’s true, Sambas have been the It sneaker for the last few seasons. While some early adopters, like Emily Ratajkowski and Jennifer Lawrence, have moved on to Puma Speedcats, Hathaway has remained loyal.
“These are my shoes. Everyone has them. I have them too,” Anne Hathaway says in a TikTok video she posted last month. The 41-year-old shared her “cozy edit,” which was essentially this exact-same outfit, but in black. If it ain’t broke, etc.
Hathaway recently announced that she’ll be working on The Princess Diaries 3, and she’s also expected to return for The Devil Wears Prada 2. The latter will likely be filmed in New York, and I’d like to imagine that Andy Sachs exists in the same universe as Joe Goldberg. I can already see the crossover where Sachs—a savvy investigative reporter—is the one to break the news of Goldberg’s inevitable downfall. Netflix, let’s make it happen.
