Anne Hathaway Lists Upper West Side Penthouse for $3.495 Million

Anne Hathaway and her actor-producer husband, Adam Shulman, are looking to offload their glam-minimalist penthouse on NYC’s Upper West Side for $3.495 million. It’s a rather significant bump up from the $2.55 million they paid for it in 2016 but for good reason: The Hollywood couple poured considerable funds toward renovating the two-bedroom apartment, which is one of just five homes in the brick-fronted co-op that was built in 1904.

The home is accessed via a private elevator and is dominated by a large open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, with pocket doors leading out onto a large private terrace. The living room boasts a white marble fireplace, a blush-colored sofa, and, most notably, a large flat-screen television discreetly hidden behind a mirrored surface. The kitchen is cozily proportioned, but it more than makes up for its relatively smaller square footage with its 18-foot ceilings. A bronze-colored wall ladder rests to one side of the in-kitchen dining space.

White oak herringbone floors are an important feature throughout the penthouse (something Hathaway and Shulman added during renovations), as are French casement windows (another addition made by the couple). According to the Wall Street Journal, the couple even raised the ceilings, which might explain the kitchen’s extraordinary height. Elsewhere in the penthouse, the master suite is topped with a skylight and features a master bathroom with a deep soaking tub. A second bathroom in the home is just as clean-lined and stylish; both have heated floors.

Presently, the couple also maintain a historic home in Southern California, which Architectural Digest featured in the fall. “The minute we came up the driveway and saw this incredible panoramic view unfold in front of us, we were hooked,” Shulman told AD at the time. Added Hathaway, “I could really see raising a family here.”
