Another dentist to set up shop in Beaverlodge

A Grande Prairie dentist is investing in Beaverlodge.

Work will soon begin on a professional centre across from Wapiti Car Wash on 5th Ave. that will be home to a new dental practice by year’s end.

Dentist Adam Woods said the building will house his practice and has the capacity create at least three other positions for support staff.

Woods said he was drawn to Beaverlodge because it has a good population base as well as a significant surrounding population.

He also said it has enough distance from the city to have a strong small-town feel.

Beaverlodge mayor Gary Rycroft is calling it “very positive” news.

“It’s a professional building, so it shows well for our community.”

The development required rezoning of the land from highway commercial to general commercial, Rycroft said.

“It was an easy decision because the difference was minimal - it’s right beside an office now, so it doesn’t change much in the neighbourhood,” he said.

He said council viewed the development as positive based on the services provided to town residents, as well as the expansion of Beaverlodge’s tax base.

The lot’s previous owners applied for the re-designation so they could sell the property to make way for the construction, Rycroft said.

Council approved the rezoning in September and administration then granted the development permit, he said.

Woods has been practising at Grande Prairie Family Dental Clinic since 2019.
