Another North Texas school district approves cell phone ban in classrooms

The Grapevine-Colleyville school district has banned cell phone use in classrooms in an effort to reduce interruptions and distractions.

Phones must be off and stored in a backpack, purse or locker during the school day. Middle school students may use their phones during lunch while high schoolers can use them during lunch and in between classes. Elementary students must leave their phones off the entire school day.

Students may have other electronics such as smartwatches, headphones or laptops, but they may not be used for communication unless allowed by a teacher.

Keller schools approved a ban on cell phones, Bluetooth devices and headphones last week. Mansfield adopted a ban last year.
