Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho is one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

The psychological horror, which Wright wrote alongside 1917’s Krysty Wilson-Cairns, revolves around a girl that goes back in time to 1960s London, and will star Thomasin McKenzie, Matt Smith, Diana Ring, Terence Stamp, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Joy has provided an update on Last Night In Soho, detailing just how important music and dancing was to her performance, something that also just so happened to perfectly compliment Wright’s direction.

“What I really like about him is that he directs in beats, and I act in beats. Music is very important for both of us, and he would give me freedom in that,” she explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

“So, he would say, ‘From this line in the song, you somehow need to end up over there. How do you want to do it?’ And he would trust me to choreograph my movements and choreograph little dance pieces to get me from point A to point B. So, it felt very collaborative.”

It turns out that Joy had a lot of time to prepare for the film, too, as she admitted, “Edgar and I had been talking about this script for years. The first day I ever met Edgar, we went out for tea or drinks or something like that, and he pitched me this project.”

“At the time, I was very star struck and kind of didn’t believe it was going to happen. So, to be able to sit here talking to you about it and knowing that we shot is quite surreal.”

Things will get much more surreal for Joy when Last Night In Soho is finally released on 25 September.
