PepsiCo's newest drink takes a hard left turn from their typical products: it isn't carbonated, it's got natural ingredients like spirulina and chia seeds, and you won't find it in a grocery store or vending machine. Drinkfinity is a new kind of drink - so much so that you'll need a special water bottle just to try it.

These $20 bottles and the juice pods that go inside can only be purchased online at the Drinkfinity website. Pods are sold in packs of four (for $5-$6.50 per pack) and contain two chambers: one with juice and another with dry ingredients like chia seeds or green coffee extract.

The pod fits into the top of the water bottle, and when you pop it down, the bottle punctures the pod, Keurig-cup-style. Then, you shake it up and watch the pod mix into water, creating a lightly sweetened drink. The taste isn't aggressively strong; it's similar to a flavored water or light tea.

There are 12 pod flavors to choose from for now, and each falls into one of four categories: Charge, Chill, Flow, or Renew. Charge drinks, which come in Acai and Mandarin Orange flavors, have as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Chill drinks come in White Peach, Elderflower, and Berrymile.

The largest category is Flow, which has five flavors to choose from: Pomegranate Ginger, Grapefruit Ginger, Lemon Spirulina, Oatberry, and Mango Chia. The last mode, Renew, caters to coconut water lovers with Coconut Water Watermelon and Pineapple Coconut Water.

The downside of the drink is obviously that it requires you buy a bottle, but PepsiCo did its part to make it functional outside of Drinkfinity. The top portion is pretty unintrusive and can be taken out and cleaned, and a magnet on the side of the bottle keeps the lid in place when unscrewed, so it doesn't smack you in the face as you sip.

The design was also made to be environmentally friendly. Pods use 65 percent less packaging than regular 20-ounce drink bottles. Plus, at checkout, you can request that your delivery comes with a return label, so you can send used pods back to be recycled.

Drinkfinity is available online now, and is sold in "Getting Started" bundles or individually.
