Apple adds ChatGPT to iPhone in latest iOS update
The rollout is part of a wider deployment of artificial intelligence-powered tools in the latest updates to the operating systems for iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. The ChatGPT integration, announced in June as part of the Apple Intelligence unveil, will allow the company's Siri voice assistant tap the chatbot's expertise including on user queries about photos and documents such as presentations. The slow rollout of Apple Intelligence features so far has raised some investor worries about the strength of the iPhone 16 sales cycle.

Intel executives say a manufacturing spinoff is possible
(Reuters) -The two executives leading Intel after the ouster of its chief executive conceded on Thursday that the company may be forced to sell its manufacturing operations if a new chipmaking technology slated for next year does not succeed. Intel both designs and manufactures chips, making it unique in the industry. The company has shed more than $100 billion in value as it struggles to regain its lost lead in manufacturing and missed out on the AI boom dominated by Nvidia.

Broadcom forecasts Q1 revenue above estimates on strong AI chip demand
(Reuters) -Broadcom forecast quarterly revenue above Wall Street estimates on Thursday and predicted booming demand for its custom artificial intelligence chips in the next few years. Shares of the Palo Alto, California-based company were up 14% in aftermaket trade after CEO Hock Tan told investors on a conference call he expects a revenue opportunity from AI in the range of $60 billion to $90 billion in fiscal 2027. Tan indicated three "hyperscale" customers are likely to deploy millions of AI chip clusters at the time.

The reported move would align the iPhone maker with other big technology companies that have developed their own chips to power compute-heavy AI services and reduce reliance on Nvidia's pricey and short-in-supply processors. Apple's AI chip is internally code-named Baltra and is expected to be ready for mass production by 2026, the report said. To make the chip, the company is planning to use one of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co's most advanced manufacturing processes, known as N3P, the report said.
