Arctic Bay hunters attacked by polar bear come home

A welcome home celebration is planned for two hunters in Arctic Bay, Nunavut, who were attacked by a polar bear almost two weeks ago.

Adrian Arnauyumayuq and Bruce Pauloosie were attacked by the bear while sleeping in their tent. Isaac Shooyook, MLA for Quttiktuq, had told the legislative assembly the bear pulled one of the men out of the tent by the head in the middle of the night.

He is also the Grandfather of one of the them.

After the attack, the two men were flown to Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit for treatment.

They're now fine and the men say they look forward to their next hunting trip.

Local hunters and trappers are organizing the welcome home event but say the whole town has pitched in. The celebration will be held at the school gym at 8 p.m. local time.
