Ariana Grande Just Showed Up to the Grammys and Shut Down the Entire Red Carpet
Ariana Grande just hit the Grammys red carpet and looks STUNNING.
The last time Ari attended the Grammys was back in 2016.
Arianators, this is it — the moment that you all have been waiting (with bated breath) for. Queen of pop, Ariana Grande, has finally made her return to the Grammy Awards after two years worth of absences. I completely understand that stuff happens and that Ariana has been busy with touring, dropping albums, and not to mention slaying us with her undeniable talent, but it has been far too long. The fans need her!
Anyway, Ariana showed up in head-to-toe glam, wearing a stunning floor-length dress by Giambattista Valli, shiny gloves, and ~classy~ jewelry for some glitz. Her signature sky-high ponytail finished off the look, because let's be real — Ari hardly goes anywhere without it. Prepare to obsess over the look in 3, 2, 1:
The last time that Ariana attended the Grammys was back in 2016. Ari didn't take home any awards that night, but she did look amazing in her red Romona Keveža gown. Ari could've went to the Grammys in 2017, but she was busy on her Dangerous Woman tour like the total overachiever that she is.
2019 was arguably the biggest year for Ariana to attend the Grammys—she won Best Pop Vocal Album for her critically acclaimed record, Sweetener (2018), and was nominated in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for "God Is a Woman." But again, Ari chose not to attend.
According to Variety, Ariana chose to intentionally skip the 2019 Grammy Awards because she reportedly felt "insulted" after the show's producers prevented her from performing "7 Rings." Ariana and the producers reached a compromise, where "7 Rings" would be part of a medley of her songs. When the producers wanted to dictate what Ariana's second song choice should be, she pulled out of the performance and skipped the show altogether.
Grammy producer Ken Elrich went on the record with The Associated Press and said that Ariana pulled out of the performance because she "felt it was too late to pull something together." Ari took to Twitter to explain that the narrative he was trying to create was entirely false.
i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more. 🖤

i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.

passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those.

hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year. 🖤

At least Ari showed her fans the beautiful Zac Posen dress that she was going to wear, had she attended.
Welp, now that last year's drama is water under the bridge, Ari is about to have a great night since she's up for five awards. "7 Rings" is nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, while thank u, next is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Even "Boyfriend," her song with Social House, managed to snag a nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category—can't wait to see what she sweeps!
