Ariana Greenblatt Goes for Quiet Luxury in Saint Laurent at Golden Globes 2024

Ariana Greenblatt made the case for minimalism on Sunday night at the 81st Golden Globe Awards in a Saint Laurent white tuxedo shirt.

The “Barbie” actress styled the top unbuttoned and tucked into wide-leg pants with a satin cummerbund in a look that referenced Yves Saint Laurent’s groundbreaking Le Smoking tuxedo, introduced in 1966.

Ariana Greenblatt, golden globes, red carpet, look, — Ariana Greenblatt at the 81st Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles.

The tuxedo drew elements from menswear, but was designed specifically for women. With Françoise Hardy as his muse, the couturier created a feminine curved collar and pants meant to elongate the leg. The look paved the way for the power suiting of today.

Greenblatt’s outfit also recalled Sharon Stone at the 1996 Oscars, where she famously wore a Vera Wang maxiskirt with a Gap button-down borrowed from her husband’s closet. Greenblatt, however, paired her look with accessories, donning Jimmy Choo shoes plus nearly a dozen stacked Chopard diamond rings and layered necklaces.

The 16-year-old was styled by Molly Dickson.

The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrate the biggest achievements across film and television in 2023. It is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by WWD parent company Penske Media Corp. Ahead of the ceremony, WWD hosted its first real-time red carpet digital show, hosted by Jeannie Mai, highlighting the looks from the red carpet arrivals. On Monday, WWD will reveal the winners of its Style Awards during the red carpet recap on wwd.com/golden-globes at 10 a.m. ET.
