'Armed and dangerous' suspects from high-speed B.C. police chase found in Alberta

A woman and her male companion, who allegedly led B.C. police on a high-speed chase through Metro Vancouver last week after pointing a gun at a police officer and pulling the trigger, have been arrested in Camrose, Alta.

The incident, which left police on high alert throughout Metro Vancouver, started in New Westminster with a complaint about two people asleep in a white Buick LaCrosse.

When officers approached the sedan, the man in the driver's side allegedly pulled a gun and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't fire.

He and the woman sped off, chased by police, hitting several other vehicles in New Westminster, Burnaby and Vancouver.

The car was abandoned some time that day in a South Vancouver driveway, but the couple, described as "armed and dangerous" by police, were still at large.

Arrested 'without incident'

In the past week, investigators identified the suspects and shared that information with other law enforcement agencies, according to a New Westminster police release.

Early Sunday, the suspects were stopped and arrested "without incident" by RCMP in Camrose, Alta., the release states.

"Knowing that these two individuals not only posed a threat to other police personnel but also to the public at large, we embarked on a high priority investigation ... resulting in their quick apprehension," wrote the New Westminster Police Department.

The suspects have not been publicly identified.
