Police have released surveillance photos of a man believed to have robbed the Public Service Credit Union in St. John's Friday afternoon.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a heavy police presence was at the scene on Empire Avenue in the centre of the city, as officers respond to the armed robbery around 1:40 p.m.
Police said the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. They have not said what kind of weapon was used.
The suspect is described as being in his mid-20s to early 30s and at the time of the robbery he was wearing a plaid jacket and dark pants. He carried a backpack and had his face concealed.
