Arrest made in death of Mississauga woman found on driveway

Mississauga woman found dead was 'concealed' at home after going missing: police

Peel Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of 43-year-old Cheryl McVarish.

According to a new release, Peel police arrested Gil Dasilva, 64, of Mississauga at his residence without incident on Tuesday, and charged him with second degree murder in the death of McVarish.

Peel Regional Police have told CBC News that Dasilva is the father of McVarish's boyfriend. No motive has yet been released.

McVarish's body was discovered in March on the driveway of a Westmount Avenue home in the Lakeshore Road East and Cawthra Road area of Mississauga.

While Peel Regional Police have not yet confirmed how McVarish died, a police statement has said that blunt force trauma was a contributing factor in her death.

Dasilva is scheduled to appear at the A. Grenville and William Davis Courthouse in Brampton on May 3, 2017.
