Arrest warrant issued for Shediac man

Police say they are trying to find a Shediac man wanted for aggravated assault.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jean-François Mallet, 22, who is charged with aggravated assault, mischief and breach of a probation order, the RCMP said.

They said they were called to Trois-Ruisseaux in the early morning of March 7, after a woman suffered serious injuries in an assault. She was taken to hospital.

"We believe there are people in the community who know the whereabouts of Jean-François Mallet," said Cpl. Dave MacDonnell of the Shediac RCMP.

"Anyone believed to be helping someone charged with a crime can themselves face charges of being an accessory after the fact for the same crime."

Mallet is five feet six inches tall and about 130 pounds, with a medium build, blond hair and blue eyes.
