Arson suspect sought in 3 Mission fires

Mission firefighters put out one of the fires that spread to the front of a house.

Police in Mission, B.C., are looking for an arson suspect after several suspicious fires broke out around 2 a.m. PT Thursday morning.

RCMP say a homeowner in the 33700 block of Bowie Drive found his front porch on fire, but quickly extinguished it with a garden hose.

"Down the street, another residence was observed to have fire damage. A short distance away, a trailer parked in the 8500 block of Doerksen Drive was also damaged by fire," said a statement issued by police.

Nobody was hurt in any of the fires.

Due to the short time frame and small area involved, police believe the incidents are related. They looking for a suspicious man described as white, heavy set, 5'8" or 5'9" and wearing a grey jacket.

Fire officials could not say whether the fires are linked to five suspicious fires in Abbotsford earlier this month, but noted the times they broke out are similar.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
