Arthur, Mount Forest capital projects moving ahead

WELLINGTON NORTH - The Township of Wellington North’s sidewalk project in Mount Forest and reconstruction project of Domville Street in Arthur is underway

Council is set to award the tender work for the respective projects at its Monday night meeting: C&G Concrete at a cost of $108,625.90 for the sidewalk project and Drexler Construction Limited at a cost of $1,984,970 for Domville Street.

The sidewalk project will consist of installing sidewalks along Princess Street and Durham Street West in Mount Forest.

The township received four submissions: C&G Concrete, Emmacon Corp, Royal Crown Construction and I.M. Benjamins Inc.

I.M. Benjamins Inc. had the highest bid at $163,301. Meanwhile, C&G Concrete had the lowest bid with $108,625.90.

The overall cost of the sidewalk project will come to roughly a total of $148,625.90 – $66,374 under budget from the initial 2022 budget for the project of $215,000.

On top of this, Wellington North council will also award the reconstruction project of Domville Street in Arthur to Drexler Construction Limited for a cost of $1.9 million.

Drexler Construction Limited had the lowest bid, while the only other bidder, Moorefield Excavating Ltd. had a bid of $2.3 million.

The township’s initial budget for the reconstruction project was $2.2 million which includes roads and drainage, sanitary sewers, water works, contingency allowance, site inspections, and material testing.
