Former ASMR Singer Alaina Castillo Releases New Spotify Documentary for RADAR Program

After garnering a major fanbase for her ASMR song covers on YouTube, performer Alaina Castillo's star continues to rise. The singer has already garnered viral attention, racking up millions of views on her YouTube channel, and now she's starring in a new Spotify mini documentary. The Houston, Texas native is one of the streaming platform's RADAR artists of 2020, and for those new to Alaina, this documentary will give you an initial introduction to her world.

Premiering exclusively on Teen Vogue, the video gives fans a look inside the life of the singer. As she explains, before working on original material — including a debut album set for release next year, Rolling Stone reports — she had worked primarily on ASMR-inspired cover songs (including a capella takes on Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande). That all changed after she went into GarageBand and created her first original song.

Alaina has come a long way since her YouTube days, and as she explains, even before she earned the attention of fans on the Internet, she was performing in school talent shows. However, she had long remain focused on her educational pursuits. The documentary features the singer talking with her father, and the two openly discuss previous concerns regarding a possible career in the arts. However, as she later reveals, things have certainly worked out in her favor.

"I'm doing what I've always wanted to do," Alaina says as the clip concludes. "I'm living my best life." And while the documentary provides only a small peek at the performer's "best life," it's clear that more good things are definitely on the horizon. As the only United States-based singer recognized by Spotify's RADAR program, the singer has released a series of Spotify Singles and will star in a show on YouTube's COLOR channel, Rolling Stone reports.

And lucky for you, you can get to know her before she gets even bigger by watching the exclusive premiere of her documentary, below.
