In Pictures: Stunning entries from the Astronomy Photographer of the Year awards

The winning and runner up entries for the annual Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year have been released and they are stunning.

The competition and exhibition, run by the Royal Observatory Greenwich in association with Insight Investment and BBC Sky at Night Magazine, showcases the best in amateur talent.

For it’s eleventh year, the annual competition received a staggering 4,600 entries taken by photographers from 90 countries.

These exceptional photographs – winners, runners-up or highly commended – are showcased alongside a remarkable selection of 68 shortlisted images, in the major special exhibition Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year.

Categories include ‘Our Sun’, “Our Moon”, “Galaxies” and “Best Newcomer”.

Running at the National Maritime Museum, this astronomic gallery opens to the public from September 13 to April 26, 2020.
