Police have charged a 15-year-old youth with attempted murder and arson in relation to a house fire in the Goulds neighbourhood of St. John's on Friday. (Shutterstock)

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a 15-year-old youth has been charged with attempted murder and arson in connection to a house fire in the Goulds neighbourhood of St. John's early Friday morning.

The fire happened just after midnight Thursday, according to a police news release.

Police didn't say how many people were in the multi-unit home, but said that all occupants escaped without injury.

The youth was arrested at the scene, and was charged with attempted murder and arson.

The accused was held in custody on Friday and appeared in provincial court, said police.
