Authorities find human remains in South Mississippi woods, sheriff says. What we know
Authorities found human remains on Monday in a rural, wooded area of George County, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities found the remains in the Basin community, an unincorporated territory 20 minutes south of Lucedale.
The coroner has not yet identified the remains, the Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities did not say whether they are investigating the death as suspicious.
Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said in a news release that more details would be provided but asked for “that the community respect the ongoing investigation and the privacy of those involved.”
