Aventura man uploaded massive child porn collection — possibly 60,000 files, cops say
In search of a man allegedly sharing child sexual abuse material online, South Florida detectives not only found the man they were looking for, but also uncovered a cache of more than 60,000 files of possible child porn, police said.
After a months-long investigation, he was jailed Tuesday.
In May, a North Miami Beach detective was after a device that was transmitting thousands of files of possible child sexual abuse material, an arrest report read. Trying to see exactly what the files were, the detective was told by the device’s internet provider that the material was coming from a residence in Aventura.
The detective contacted a fellow investigator at the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, who also was investigating the home and had access to some of the files.
The files showed children between 9 and 13 years old being raped by adults, the report read.
As detectives continued investigating, they learned over 60,000 possible child porn files were transmitted between December and July from the Aventura home.
In August, authorities had enough evidence to get a search warrant to raid the home. North Miami Beach and Aventura police executed the warrant Tuesday.
Police found three people in the home living in “deplorable conditions” — Bruce Fundora, his 85-year-old grandfather and his blind 60-year-old aunt.
While authorities knew the devices transmitting child porn belonged to the address, who owned the devices was not immediately clear.
During an investigation, detectives found a bag with many phones. Police said Fundora, a 46-year-old Aventura man, told them he didn’t use them but bought them to resell.
On the phones, police found numerous files of children being molested and raped, the report read.
Investigators learned the devices they were after were still transmitting child porn up until the day the home was raided.
Fundora is facing 15 counts of possessing images of sexual performance of a child. As of Thursday, he remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
