Seven months after Avicii’s death, his legacy lives on. Hundreds of fans and family members gathered in Sweden on Friday to honor the two-time Grammy nominee, who died in April at age 28.

Metro reported Saturday that a memorial service was held for the DJ and producer at the Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm. The outlet reports that his father, Klas Bergling, spoke at the ceremony. Photos show several images of Avicii, whose given name was Tim Bergling, on display in the church.

As one fan video shows, the service also included a crowd performance of “Wake Me Up,” Avicii and Aloe Blacc’s 2013 hit.

A source who attended the service told E! News that “the entire service was very moving.” A private funeral was held for Avicii in June.

In a statement provided to media outlets in April, Avicii’s family said that he “could not go on any longer.”

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music,” the statement read. “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”

Fans also tweeted their own tributes to the late DJ, sharing photos from Friday’s memorial service. One described it as “absolutely heartbreaking.”

Of course, plenty of fans have been praising Avicii over the past months too, sharing what his music meant to them.

And as with Friday’s service, a separate memorial event in April was well attended by fans.

Producer Nile Rodgers also shared a message in honor of Avicii earlier this month, writing that he regretted not being able to attend Friday’s memorial service. “For your loss I still grieve. I’ll love you until the day I join you and beyond,” Rodgers wrote in his Instagram post.

From the tributes that have poured out over the last seven months, it’s clear that Avicii’s legacy will live on long after his tragic death.
