'Bachelor in Paradise Canada' spoilers: Makeouts and heartbreaks — and Cole still can't commit

On Episode 5 of Bachelor in Paradise Canada (Mondays 8 p.m. ET/PT on Citytv, catch up on Citytv.com and on Citytv+) the theme was very much makeouts and heartbreaks, and the ongoing drama between Cole Medders, Lisa Mancini and Samantha "Sam" Picco got more chaotic.

In the last week's episode we saw Lisa from St. Catharines, Ont., and Survivor Season 35 alum Cole admit they both have feelings for each other, even though Cole and Sam are still pursuing a relationship, and Lisa most recently offered her rose to The Bachelorette Season 17 alum Connor Brennan.

Things took a turn in this week's episode when Sam and Joey Kirchner from Redcliff, Alta., shared some passionate kisses. In a particularly odd moment, Sam and Joey shared a kiss right next to Cole and Lisa making out.

But Cole is very much still trying to keep his relationships with both Lisa and Sam, refusing to commit to one girl.

Joey still playing the field: 'Am I married? No'

While Joey and Céline Paquette from Winnipeg seemed to be going pretty strong, Joey now wants to spend more time with other people. Aside from Sam, he also shared a kiss with Paige Allen from Toronto.

"Am I married? No," Joey said in this week's episode.

But that's not even where this web of romance ends. Tessa Tookes from The Bachelor Season 26 was welcomed to paradise, with an instant spark between her and Joey, particularly after their one-on-one date. Joey even suggested that he's felt the strongest connection with Tessa, compared to anyone else in paradise.

Of course, Joey's actions upset Céline, who was forced to confront Joey about all of a sudden wanting to make connections with other singles. It's clear that her feelings for him aren't completely reciprocated.

'We think she's being a little bit more strategic'

In a different variant of Bachelor in Paradise drama, Sam made a move to tell Garrett Aida about the concerns several women in paradise have about Nithisha Ketheeswaran's intentions.

"Nithisha makes me uneasy," Sam said to Garrett. "We think she's being a little bit more strategic."

Garrett ends up confronting Nithisha and then expressed that she "is not what she seems" and he needs to stop believing everything she tells him. But Nithisha maintained that her feelings for Garrett are genuine.

"I'm not a stupid girl, if I wanted to be strategic I would have planned sh-it since Day 1," Nithisha said.

'The spark's not there' between Matia and Maria

Another relationship that devolved in this week's episode of Bachelor in Paradise Canada is between two Canadians, Matia Marcantuoni and Maria Garcia-Sanchez.

"I did open myself and try to create a connection with her, but I feel like it shouldn't be forced," Matia said in the episode. "For whatever reason, the spark's not there."

After Matia told Maria he's not feeling a "true connection" with her, Maria broke down crying, feeling completely blindsided by this development.

Matia also chatted with Paige, who said he is very much her "type," but Matia wasn't on the same page and she walked away frustrated, questioning why he even decided to come to paradise.

But at the end of the episode we caught of glimpse of Josh Guvi coming back to paradise, after his appearance in the first season of the show. So we'll see if any connection can be rekindled with Maria.
