While sipping champagne on the beach, Gabby shared how much she has grown on her journey and has realized that she is ready to be engaged. Johnny told her that while he is falling in love with her, the process has also been very fast and he isn't ready to be engaged.
Ultimately, Gabby knew that they both wanted two different things and were on different timelines, so they needed to say goodbye. But while the end of their story was unexpected for them, it was not at all a surprise to viewers, since before Gabby and Johnny's date, ABC aired a promo for the upcoming season of during a commercial break, in which Johnny is front-and-center on the beach.
Viewers immediately took to Twitter following the promo to call out ABC for the spoiler, while others thought the network's flub was pretty hilarious. However, the best tweets were from viewers who pointed out how, following their breakup, Gabby got back onto the boat and sailed off, leaving Johnny alone on the beach as if she had just dropped him off in Paradise.
In the end, Gabby was heartbroken as she shared, "It feels like a little bit of a punch in the gut because it was a fear, you know, that I've had all along, and now it's kind of coming to fruition, which is, I start to fall for someone, but they can't meet me where I am or give me what I need. And it's scary as hell."
Gabby added, "Saying goodbye to Johnny was hard, but it's, like, kind of meant to be. Because as much as, like, I don't want to say goodbye to Johnny and, like, I know he'll always have a piece of me, like, I know there's something waiting for me that's really great with Erich and Jason. I've been tired of fighting for love for a long time and having it right in front of my face is, like, so enlightening in the best way."
- So is this our goodbye?
- I think so.
- That's devastating.
- I know.
KYLIE MAR: During part one of the fantasy suites on "The Bachelorette" Monday night, Gabby's date with Johnny wasn't going so well when the topic of potentially getting engaged in a little over a week came up.
- A big part of me that hoped it would be, you know, us one way or another. But I feel like we're just-- we went two different things.
KYLIE MAR: But whether or not Gabby and Johnny would make it to the fantasy suite wasn't a surprise to anyone watching since before Johnny's date, ABC aired a promo for the new season of "Bachelor in Paradise" showing Johnny front and center on the beach.
- Something approaches. Something fierce.
- Oh, God.
- Something wild.
KYLIE MAR: Viewers immediately took to Twitter following the promo to call out ABC for the major spoiler, like this fan who tweeted, "I'm sorry. Did the VIP preview really just show us Johnny? Come on, man. We all knew it wasn't going to be him in the end. But really, where's the PR team?" While others thought the Network's flub was pretty hilarious.
But my personal favorite tweets were from viewers who pointed out how Gabby leaving Johnny on the beach after breaking up with him made it seem like they just dropped him off at Paradise, like this person who tweeted, "Bachelor producers let Johnny stay in Mexico for Paradise so they didn't have to buy him another plane ticket."
- I start to fall for someone, but they can't meet me where I am or give me what I need, and it's scary as hell. Saying goodbye to Johnny was hard, but it's like kind of meant to be.
