‘Bachelorette’ Fans (Rightly) Called Us Out for Leaving a Major Name Off Our Season 16 Frontrunner List

We recently released a list of seven names who we believe are worthy candidates to lead season 16 of The Bachelorette. While we didn’t expect it to garner a huge response, that’s exactly what happened. And based on the heated reaction from our readers, one thing’s for sure: Kendall Long should have 100 percent been included on the list. (There, we said it.)

It all started yesterday when the list of Bachelorette predictions hit the internet, which included seven familiar faces: Madison, Sydney, Mykenna, Kelley, Kelsey, Alayah and Hannah Brown.

When fans caught wind of the contenders, they immediately flooded our Facebook page with opinions about who deserves the highly coveted role. Some users agreed, claiming Kelley is the only logical choice. (Slim pickings.) However, others drew our attention to another Bachelor Nation favorite, Kendall, who is recently back on the dating market.

Take a look below at some of the best responses:

Kendall first appeared on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor. She went on to star on Bachelor in Paradise, where she met and fell in love with Joe the Grocer. After the show, the pair moved in together before calling it quits in February 2020.

In our defense, we had two valid reasons for not including Kendall in our initial prediction. First, she just got out of a serious relationship. Although contestants have moved on quickly in the past, Kendall’s relationship with Joe was different. They lived together. They both uprooted their lives to try and make it work. We highly doubt Kendall is ready to date 30-plus men on national television after ending what she thought was a forever relationship.

And second, ABC is known for choosing Bachelors/Bachelorettes who were contestants on the previous season. If it’s not the runner-up, it’s usually someone from the final four or (dare we say) six. As much as we’d love for the network to choose a totally random star, that approach hasn’t always worked out in our favor—like when ABC went rogue and selected Luyendyk Jr. We all know how that turned out.

All we have to say is thanks to our readers for keeping us honest and…#JusticeForKendall.
