‘Badly decomposed’ body found in woods near JR Allen Parkway in Columbus, coroner says

A “badly decomposed” body has been found in the woods on the west side of JR Allen Parkway in Columbus, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan said the body was located near the West Bradley Park Drive exit.

The body was first reported Nov. 5 to police, according to Bryan.

Bryan said police and EMS were dispatched but didn’t find the body at that time. Another call regarding the body was made Monday evening, and police and EMS located the body, he said.

The victim is unidentified, according to Bryan. An autopsy will be performed to determine the race and sex of the victim, he said.
