$10K bail for driver accused in Pitts crash that left Morgan Pardy paralyzed

On Morgan Pardy's 22nd birthday, the man accused of causing her paralyzing injury was granted bail.

Joshua Steele-Young's bail was set at $10,000 Monday, and a number of conditions were set regarding his release — including one that will keep in jail a bit longer.

Judge Mike Madden said Steele-Young cannot be released from custody until the internet is disconnected from his parents' home, where he's ordered to live upon release.

Steele-Young is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and forcibly confining Pardy on March 20.

Pardy was a passenger in the Honda Civic Steele-Young was allegedly driving when it flipped over in snowy conditions on Pitts Memorial Drive in St. John's.

Steele-Young was arrested last week for breaching court orders that he not have contact with Pardy and two other women.

He's accused of breaching those orders twice in June and again this month.

As well as not being allowed to have internet access, Steele-Young is not allowed to possess a cell phone, smartphone, iPad or similar device.

There were several members of Pardy's family in court Monday morning, including an emotional Ed Pardy — Morgan's father — who began crying before proceedings began.

A fairly large group of supporters were also seen sitting with Steele-Young's family.

It's uncertain just when Steele-Young will be released. His next court appearance is slated for August 18.
