Bank Heist Suspects 'Googled Robberies'

A couple searched for "how people got caught after bank robberies" shortly before carrying out their heist, according to authorities.

Kody Davis, 33, and Amanda Davis, 31, both of Texas, were arrested shortly after the robbery and charged with criminal conspiracy, robbery and theft, US media reported.

Amanda Davis - referred to as Menard in unsealed arrest affidavits - allegedly handed a bank cashier a leather bag and note that said: "Take money out and put it in the bag".

After Menard allegedly stole $597 (£400) from the Great Western Bank in Fort Collins, north of Denver, the worker screamed: "The lady just took my money! I've been robbed."

Police chased the couple's car, allegedly driven by Davis at speeds of up to 120mph, until he drove over spikes just north of the state border.

Davis is also accused of vehicular eluding and reckless driving.

The pair had allegedly discussed how to rob a bank after losing their money gambling while moving to Colorado.

Menard then "Googled how people got caught after bank robberies on her phone", according to the affidavits.

She also searched various bank locations, settling on the Great Western Bank in Fort Collins as "a good bank to rob", the affidavits added.

Menard admitted it was her idea, and Davis only went along with it, reported The Coloradoan.

It added Davis told Larimer County Sheriff's Office investigators he has to pay $3,000 a month in child support and he and Menard were "tired of living poor" in Texas.

He reportedly said they "did something stupid" at the bank and claimed he would not have done it had Menard not talked him into it.
