Barrie firefighters rescued one person from a basement apartment fire Jan. 6 on Mowat Crescent.

Firefighters were called to the home at about 8:25 a.m. and quickly located the tenant.

“The firefighters did a great job locating the person and getting them in the care of paramedics,” platoon chief Eric MacFadden said at the scene. “We were here pretty quick.”

MacFadden said he did not know the condition of the person, who was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service.
