Bayern Munich players believe Callum Hudson-Odoi could finally arrive at the Allianz Arena in the next two weeks after his move from Chelsea collapsed 18 months ago.

The England forward, 19, has been on the bench for the first two Premier League games of the season and Bayern are considering a season-long loan to bring him to the Bundesliga.

It is understood some of Bayern’s squad have discussed Hudson-Odoi being a target for the club and expect a move for him before the transfer window closes on October 5.

While Leroy Sane has arrived from Manchester City in a £54.8million deal to bolster their forward line, the German champions are still looking for added firepower following the departure of Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic from last season’s squad.

Coutinho has returned to Barcelona following his loan, while Perisic has returned to Inter Milan after being part of the Champions League triumph last season. Hans-Dieter Flick has Kingsley Coman and Sane as wide forwards but would welcome Hudson-Odoi as he looks to defend his domestic and European titles.

Bayern attempted to sign Hudson-Odoi two seasons ago when he could not break through into Maurizio Sarri’s first team at Stamford Bridge. The teenager handed in a transfer request but bids from Bayern were rejected and Sarri gave the forward more game time.

Ahead of last season he recovered from a serious Achilles injury but still made more than 30 appearances in Frank Lampard’s first season as manager, although he made only seven starts in the Premier League.

Lampard used Hudson-Odoi off the bench in the 2020/21 opener against Brighton but he was an unused substitute against Liverpool at the weekend and the Chelsea manager has not ruled out a departure in the next fortnight.

He was named in the England Under-21 squad during the last international break, with hopes of getting back into Gareth Southgate’s senior squad.
