Russian Couple Adopts 300lb Bear Found Abandoned In A Forest
Two’s company and three’s a crowd, but trying telling that to a 7ft-tall 300lb bear.
Stepan the 23-year-old bear was adopted by Russian couple Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko and they treat him like a son.
Not only does Stepan sit down with them at the dinner table for meals, he watches television and even helps out in the garden by watering the plants.
The couple adopted the bear when he was just three months old. Now he is grown, Stepan needs 25kg of fish, vegetables and eggs a day, although he also enjoys a bowl of porridge and a can of condensed milk.
He cuddles up with them on the sofa at the end of the day. They say he is gentle because he has lived with them for so long.
Svetlana said: “Stepan likes nothing more than to cuddle up with us on the sofa at night while we’re watching television.
“When we adopted him, he was only three months old and had been found by hunters in the forest having lost his mother. He was in a very bad condition.
“He absolutely loves people and is a really sociable bear - despite what people might think, he is not aggressive at all. We have never been bitten by Stepan.
“He’s got so many talents and loves a picnic. It’s a wonder he doesn’t eat us out of house and home.”
