The Beatles have won the Best Rock Performance trophy at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Their unearthed and revived song “Now and Then” was honored over tracks by the Black Keys (“Beautiful People”), Green Day (“The American Dream Is Killing Me”), Idles (“Gift Horse”), Pearl Jam (“Dark Matter”), and St. Vincent (“Broken Man”).

Accepting the trophy in their place was Sean Ono Lennon, the late John Lennon’s son. “Play the Beatles’ music to your kids,” he said. “I feel like the world can’t afford to forget about people like the Beatles. Like, we need this music in the world; we need peace and love.” Watch his speech below.

The Beatles’ “Now and Then” also competed for Record of the Year, a category they never won and did not end up winning on the night. Instead, it went to Kendrick Lamar and “Not Like Us.”

In 2024, Boygenius won the Best Rock Performance Grammy Award for “Not Strong Enough.”
