Beginnings of Heavy Snow Fall on Northern Greece

Snow began falling in northern Greece overnight Thursday, bringing heavy snow throughout the day on Friday, January 4. This video shows the snow falling Friday morning in Thessaloniki’s Aristotelous Square.

Greece’s second largest city, on the Aegean Sea’s Thermaic Gulf, was seeing 23 mph winds by Friday evening as the heavy snow came down. City officials cautioned residents to dress warmly and use snow chains if they must drive. Credit: Babis Tziobanoglou via Storyful
