Behchoko man faces charges after vehicle forced from road on Highway 3

A Behchoko, N.W.T., man is facing charges after a vehicle was followed and intentionally hit this morning on Highway 3.

Police say a woman in distress flagged down a driver on the highway at around 7 a.m. The driver stopped to assist the woman and their vehicle was followed and intentionally struck by a second vehicle.

They were forced from the road, and their vehicle rolled.

The suspect driver fled the scene.

The two people in the overturned vehicle were taken to a local health facility and treated for their injuries. The driver was treated and released, and the passenger was taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Police located and arrested a suspect shortly after the incident was reported.

A 57-year-old man from Behchoko is facing charges including assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
