Bellingham Fire Department, gas company searching for source of sulfur-like odor

Bellingham authorities received several reports Tuesday night of a sulfur-like odor “through the Southside of Bellingham up through downtown,” according to a Bellingham Fire Department social media post.

BFD is aware of the issue and has asked people to stop calling 911 as additional calls are not necessary at this time. The fire department is conducting an investigation alongside Cascade Natural Gas, according to the post.

BFD reported that an investigation had not yet revealed a source of the smell, or any confirmation on detection devices, but the investigation continues.
