Bellingham man accused of DUI with child in vehicle, assaulting police officer
A man suspected of driving while intoxicated with a child in his vehicle Saturday night is also accused of assaulting a police officer as he was being taken into custody.
Bellingham police officers assisted the Washington State Patrol in attempting to pull over Bellingham resident Adrian Valentino Quinn, 22, for driving impaired around 7:30 p.m.
Quinn stopped his vehicle on West Kellogg Road and fled the scene on foot. A child discovered inside the vehicle was unharmed, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department.
Quinn was found by officers hiding in an electrical closet at the Community Food Co-op, according to Peters. He reportedly body-slammed an officer while being taken into custody.
Quinn was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and driving while having a suspended license.
