Best Celebrity Reactions to “Friends” Reunion Announcement

It’s been over 15 years since the Friends series finale in 2004, and since then, fans have desperately hoped for some kind of reunion, reboot, or revival. After all, every other show under the sun has been resurrected in some manner; it was always only a matter of time before Friends joined the ranks. And now, just a few months after its devastating Netflix departure, it’s finally been announced: a Friends reunion is in the works.

As noted by Entertainment Weekly, an ~unscripted~ special will be available on HBO Max this spring, along with all 236 episodes from the show’s ten seasons. In a statement, Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max and President, TBS, TNT, and truTV explained: “I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”

The exciting news reached fans via social media when the OG cast members took to their various Instagram accounts to spread the word, all writing “It’s happening” alongside a photo. Unsurprisingly, each pic garnered millions of likes — and it’s not just “regular fans” who are excited about the news; plenty of celebs have completely lost their chill in the comments.

Charlie Puth offered up that he was “crying” about the reunion, while Ashley Benson wrote “OH MY GOD” in all caps, leaving no doubts about her excitement. Sarah Hyland’s “EXCUSE ME?!” was accompanied with a flurry of emojis, while Awkwafina, Shailene Woodley, and Mindy Kaling expressed their shock and awe accordingly.

The list of ecstatic celebrities doesn’t even begin to stop there. Beanie Feldstein remarked that she “screamed so loud on the street it was concerning,” and Jordan Fisher commented an incredulous “SHUT UP, WAIT WHAT?!” Even Kris Jenner couldn’t contain her joy, writing: “Whoa.... wait WHAT is happening??!?!?!”

Fortunately for Kris (and all the rest of us out there), there’s not that much longer to wait. HBO Max launches in May, and will include a variety of new titles as well as old favorites (like all seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, for example). If you need us, we’ll be counting the days until the Friends cast is no longer “on a break.”
