I’ve had long hair practically my entire life, which means I have over 25 years of experience keeping it healthy and looking its best.

However, I keep a pretty low-maintenance beauty routine, and that includes my hair. Basically, I just try to keep it shiny, tangle-free and soft and limit my use of hot tools. And since I’ve never dyed my hair, only get two to three haircuts a year and have access to hundreds of beauty products as a shopping editor, it’s safe to say that I’ve tried my fair share of hair masks and conditioners.

After years of testing, I finally have a tightly curated list of favorites that I will buy again and again. From in-shower hair masks and conditioners to leave-in products, keep scrolling to shop six of my all-time favorite hydrating products for long hair.

Best hair masks and conditioners for long hair

1. Crown Affair The Renewal Hydrating Hair Mask, $58

$58 at Sephora

At almost $60, Crown Affair’s The Renewal Hydrating Hair Mask is the priciest product on this list, but it is worth every penny. Packed with Tsubaki seed oil and yuzu extract, this luxurious hair mask has a more liquid-like texture than most I’ve tried and easily coats every strand of hair. After letting it sit for five to 10 minutes, you have ridiculously soft hair that smells incredible. (I also adore the brand’s leave-in conditioner!)

2. Ouai Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave In Conditioner, $30

If you already have a few in-shower products you love, consider adding Ouai’s Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave In Conditioner to your post-shower routine. Suitable for all hair types, the brand recommends spraying this product in your hair after a shower before you comb it. Not only does it provide plenty of hydration, but it also acts as a heat protectant up to 450 degrees.

3. dae Monsoon Moisture Hydrating Conditioner, $26

I’ve already waxed poetic about dae’s styling cream, so having one of the brand’s products on this list shouldn’t be a surprise. The Monsoon Moisture Hydrating Conditioner is ultra-creamy and contains high-quality ingredients like meadowfoam seed oil, cactus flower extract and moringa leaf extract. This is definitely one of my go-to conditioners for the days when I don’t have time for a mask but am still after silky strands.

4. Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Hair Masque, $39.90

$39.90 at Coco & Eve

When I don’t have enough time to let a hair mask sit and thoroughly rinse it out, I turn to Coco & Eve’s Like A Virgin Hair Masque. This hair mask is fantastic at fighting frizz and moisturizing my locks, but I especially love it because it washes out quicker than any other hair mask I’ve tried. If you don’t like to waste time in the shower but still want to give your hair some TLC, give this mask a shot.

5. Drunk Elephant Cocomino Marula Cream Conditioner, $25

$25 at Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant is one of my very favorite skin care brands, so naturally, I’ve tried its entire hair care line. The brand’s Cocomino Marula Cream Conditioner was formulated with hair expert and celeb stylist Chris McMillan to nourish hair and leave it shiny without weighing it down. It’s also free of silicones, sulfates and essential oils, so you don’t have to worry about any lingering build-up.

6. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask, $39

Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask is another favorite when my hair is going through a rough patch. It’s clinically proven to strengthen hair and decrease breakage after just two uses! The brand recommends using this mask once a week until you see results and then switching to every other week.
