The Best TV Shows and Movies on Quibi

While we're all self-isolating and social-distancing to combat the coronavirus, we need all the distractions we can get. Thankfully, a new streaming platform Quibi is here to offer you a ton of them.

So what is Quibi, you ask? Designed for mobile devices, Quibi offers short, 10-minute (or less) episodes of brand-new TV shows and movie chapters (aka "quick bites"). It's the ideal way to stream for people who find themselves falling down YouTube holes or fans of apps like Vine and TikTok. In fact, consider Quibi an elevated TikTok: It's quickness mixed with high-quality, HBO-style content. There isn't a better way to pass the time, if you ask me.

Quibi officially launches today, April 6, and with it comes a slew of new TV shows and movies starring many of your faves—including Liam Hemsworth and Sophie Turner. Here are the best ones to watch.

Available April 6

Most Dangerous Game Liam Hemsworth and Christoph Waltz star in this nail-biting thriller about a man (Hemsworth) who agrees to a game in which he's hunted by killers in order to secure $24.5 million. The stakes are high because Hemsworth's character is dying from a terminal illness and wants to win the money to make sure his wife and their baby on the way are taken care of. Think The Box meets The Hunger Games (which is fitting, seeing as how Hemsworth starred in that franchise for years).

When the Streetlights Go On A murder of a young girl shakes a suburban town to its very core. With a full-fledged investigation underway, the girl's sister and friends try to make sense of their new normal. Kristine Froseth (Looking For Alaska, The Society) and Queen Latifah star alongside Chosen Jacobs, Sophie Thatcher, Sam Strike, David Lewis, and Mark Duplass.

Survive Game of Thrones fans, I have a surprise for you. Your queen Sansa Stark, aka Sophie Turner, stars in this survivalist drama about a young woman who ends up in a plane crash. She makes it out alive but finds herself in the middle of the wilderness with just one other survivor (Corey Hawkins). That's when the fight for their lives really begins.

I Promise Quibi's official description for this documentary series reads, "Executive produced by Lebron James, I Promise is an original documentary series featuring an in-depth look at the first academic year inside the groundbreaking I Promise School that opened its doors in 2018. I Promise tells the story of LeBron James’s efforts to close the achievement gap in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, through the eyes of the inspiring students who are resetting expectations of their futures. The series will explore the day-to-day trials, triumphs, and life-changing impact of the school staff, students, and families working together in a unique, family-first educational environment that embraces the trauma and challenges many face in Akron."

Thanks a Million Jennifer Lopez executive-produced this inspiring series about public figures who kick-start a campaign to award a deserving person $100,000. That person then must pick someone else to pay it forward to, and the chain continues until $1,000,000 is given away. Celebrities who appear include Jennifer Lopez, Kristen Bell, Nick Jonas, Tracy Morgan, Aaron Rodgers, Yara Shahidi, Gabriel Iglesias, Anthony Davis, Kevin Hart, and Karlie Kloss.

&MUSIC Music nerds will get a kick out of this docuseries, which offers fans behind-the-scenes access to the people who work closely alongside their favorite artists. Choreographers. lighting designers, audio engineers—these are the folks who work in tandem with superstars to make the albums, concerts, and music videos you love.

Singled Out Keke Palmer and Joel Kim Booster host this new dating series in which a suitor is connected to a pool of diverse singles (all sexualities are represented) through social media. Think The Circle meets The Bachelor but even more fun and hilarious because Keke Palmer is one of the cohosts.

Chrissy’s Court Chrissy Teigen plays Judge Judy in this quirky reality series in which she makes verdicts on real people's small-claims cases. The best part? Teigen's mom, Pepper Thai, is the "bailiff" in the courtroom. Here's hoping John Legend and/or their children, Luna and Miles, make some cameo appearances. I (do not) object!

Gayme Show! Quibi's official description for this series reads, "Hosted by comedians Matt Rogers and Dave Mizzoni, Gayme Show! is a comedic competition show that uplifts and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. In each episode, two straight contestants are paired with a celebrity "life partner" as they battle head-to-head in physical, mental, and even emotional challenges for the title of 'Queen of the Straights.'"

NightGowns A new, eight-part docuseries in which RuPaul's Drag Race vet Sasha Velour transforms her critically praised Brooklyn drag revue show into a full-fledged production. If you're a fan of major lip-sync moments, then this is the show for you. I need to see this drag revue IRL!

Available April 13

50 States of Fright These are truly some American horror stories. Each episode of 50 States of Fright (a scripted series based on real events) explores a freaky urban myth in one of the states. Actors who appear include Rachel Brosnahan, Travis Fimmel, John Marshall Jones, Ming-Na Wen, Karen Allen, James Ransone, Emily Hampshire, Asa Butterfield, Alex Fitzalan, Danay Garcia, and Greyston Holt.

The Stranger If you're an avid ride-share user, maybe avoid this one. But the premise does sound good: A driver is catapulted into a terrifying came of cat and mouse after a mysterious stranger gets into the backseat and makes her explore the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles. Maika Monroe, Dane DeHaan, and Avan Jogia star.

Fight Like a Girl An uplifting docuseries in which women are paired with real female WWE Superstars to help them overcome an issue that's been holding them back. Sasha Banks, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, Sonya Deville, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Natalya are some of the wrestling legends slated to appear.

Available April 20

Dummy Anna Kendrick stars in this quirky comedy-drama about a woman who befriends her boyfriend's sex doll, and together they take on the world. So is this doll...alive? How does Kendrick's character communicate with her? Who knows, but colored me intrigued. Kendrick costars alongside Cody Heller and Tricia Brock.

Available April 27

Cup of Joe Joe Jonas stars in this new, eight-part travel docuseries in which we get to see the pop superstar travel the world while on his Happiness Begins tour with brothers Kevin and Nick. In each one of their tour stops, Jonas links up with a celebrity friend, and together they go sightseeing. Sounds like the ideal thing to watch while you're stuck at home, right?
