Best of Windsor Essex Awards Announces Finalists and Opens Public Voting

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island is thrilled to unveil the 235 finalists selected across 47 categories for the eagerly awaited 9th Annual Best of Windsor Essex Awards. This social media-driven campaign aims to spotlight the cherished destinations favoured by locals in Windsor, Essex County & Pelee Island.

The public is encouraged to cast their votes at, with the voting window closing on March 3rd, 2024, at 11:59 pm. Each visitor can submit one vote per valid email address, shaping the recognition of the region's premier establishments.

Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex, emphasized the significance of the awards in showcasing the region's diversity and uniqueness. He stated, "The Best of Windsor Essex Awards, now in its 9th year, have garnered over 76,000 votes, spotlighting the excellence of over 380 local businesses and attractions as chosen by the public."

Voting encompasses various categories spanning arts & entertainment, attractions & events, drink, food, outdoor adventure, shopping, stay, and photo ops. Notably, this year's awards introduce new or revamped categories, including best parade, best bar, sports bar, or pub, best coffee shop, cafe or roaster, best diverse eats, best lunch spot, best wing spot, and best picnic spot.

As a token of appreciation for participating, voters can win a Best of Windsor Essex Shopping Spree, featuring prizes exceeding $500 from select 'Best Of' Winners.

The Best of Windsor Essex Awards winners will be unveiled during a virtual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at 1 pm. Alongside prestigious plaques and commendations, awardees will receive two months of complimentary advertising on windsoriteDOTca and prominent exposure in the Official Visitor Guide, slated for release on April 24th, 2024.

Gordon Orr anticipated the tough choices ahead for voters, underscoring the campaign's role in amplifying the region's tourism assets. He affirmed, "With the caliber of these finalists, it will be hard for voters to just choose one. This social media campaign is pivotal for Tourism Windsor Essex to highlight our tourism gems and cater to the preferences of both locals and tourists alike."
