Betting odds released for outcome of Nationals-Astros World Series

The two best teams in the MLB remain alive and are set to face off in a World Series for the ages.

Game 1 of the Fall Classic between the Houston Astros, the 2017 champs, and the Washington Nationals, the never-champs, will be played Tuesday night in Houston. As all fans know, the series could last only four games in the event of a sweep or go to a full seven games, which of course begs the question: how many matchups should we prepare for?

Updated betting odds ahead of Tuesday's first pitch provide some insight into how long the series might last. Houston had the better regular-season record in 2019, which gives them home-field advantage that helps to skew the odds in their favor.

The Nationals, however, shouldn't be counted out, despite 2019 being the first year the franchise even won a postseason series. The unlikeliest outcome of the World Series is a sweep by Washington, but that doesn't mean their odds in a longer series don't increase.
