Biden news - live: Biden and Harris publicly release tax returns ahead of debate, mocking Trump

With just 35 days until Election Day, Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris has demanded Donald Trump come clean with the American people on whether he is in debt to foreign entities, joining her fellow Democrats in warning that such an eventuality could render him a “national security risk”.

Ahead of the first presidential debate today, Biden himself has said corporate America must "start paying their fair share" in the wake of news that Trump - the self-styled jet-setting billionaire - paid as little as $750 in federal income tax in 2016 and 2017.

The candidate has meanwhile added Cindy McCain, the widow of Republican senator and war hero John McCain, to his presidential transition team.
