Ordnance found in fishing gear prompts closure of RCMP Harbour Grace

Bay St. George RCMP are investigating a robbery that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Steele Mountain Road area near Flat Bay early Sunday morning.

A semi-trailer truck was travelling west towards Port aux Basques around 2 a.m. when a vehicle approached from behind and started flashing its headlights.

The vehicle, described as a black two-door Jeep, then pulled in front of the semi-trailer, forcing the driver to stop.

Three men got out of the vehicle and robbed the truck driver, stealing clothes, a satellite radio and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the Jeep has a soft top and an Ontario licence plate, with a spare tire with black steel rim and grey fender flares.

One of the men is described as being about five-feet, 10 inches tall, and around 190 pounds. He had a goatee, a piercing in the left eyebrow and a tattoo of a cross over the piercing.

A second male is described as possible East Indian descent with brown wavy or curly hair and a tattoo of a skull on the back of one hand.

The third man is described as being white, with a goatee and long hair.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
