Man reported missing in northern Sask. found dead: Big River RCMP

Big River RCMP say 36-year-old Richard Netmaker, who hadn't been seen since Jan. 6, has been found dead.

Police said in a news release Friday that Netmaker's body was found near Pekakumew Lake, close to where he was last seen.

Netmaker was last seen on Jan. 6 in an isolated area around five kilometres northwest of Big River First Nation, which is about 160 kilometres north of Saskatoon.

At the time, police believed Netmaker may have been assaulted and in need of medical attention. It was believed he may not have been wearing a jacket, police said.

The Coroners Service of Saskatchewan will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Netmaker's death, RCMP said Friday, and the police service's major crime unit is investigating the circumstances around his disappearance and death.

RCMP asked anyone with information about Netmaker's activities over the last week to call 306-469-2590 or your local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP. You can also call Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
