Bill C-5 addresses overpopulation of Black, Indigenous people: Minister Lametti

Canadian Justice Minister David Lametti defended Bill C-5 during Thursday's session of question period, following criticism by Conservatives that the bill allows criminals to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community, versus "sending a strong message to criminal gangs who use guns." Lametti added Bill C-5 addresses the overrepresentation of Black and Indigenous people in the judicial system, where "incarceration is not the solution."
