Billie Piper wouldn't want to be a teenage pop star today due to 'terrifying' social media
Billie Piper is pleased she didn't experience teenage fame in today's world due to the omnipresence of social media.
The 37-year-old, whose new series I Hate Suzie is about a celebrity photo hack, was thrust into the limelight in the 90s due to her music career when she was just 15.
"Let's put it this way, I wouldn't have wanted to be a famous pop star now," she told The Sunday Times' Culture magazine. "The social media element of it all is terrifying because it's continuous, it's in your bed, next to your bedside table every night.

"In my pop career there were moments that were horrible to experience as a teenager, but they came and went. But the thought of having that constantly on your person - I wear my phone round my neck like some weird slave - and with one simple click you're able to see what millions of people think about you or other people, or just about anything ... I would argue that it's got worse."
Piper released her debut single Because We Want To when she was just 15, with her first album Honey to the B peaking at number 14 in the UK album charts.
While her second album in 2000 didn't fare as well, her personal life was a topic of discussion due to her marriage to Chris Evans.
In 2001 at the age of 18 she wed the radio DJ who was 35 at the time. They later amicably split in 2007 and maintain a friendship.
She married second husband Laurence Fox in 2007 and shares two sons with the actor, Winston, 11, and Eugene, eight. They split in 2016 after eight years of marriage.
Piper welcomed her third child, a daughter named Tallulah, with her partner Johnny Lloyd last year. She had been dating Lloyd, the former frontman of indie band Tribes, since 2016.
