Hauschka, 35, has kicked 12 seasons in the NFL, the last three with the Bills. Buffalo will instead turn to rookie Tyler Bass, a sixth-round pick out of Georgia Southern in April’s NFL draft.
Hauschka’s performance dropped last 2 seasons
Hauschka connected on 22-of-28 field goals in each of this last two seasons, a career-low 78.6 percentage since he became a full-time kicker in the NFL in 2011. He connected on just 1-of-5 attempts beyond 50 yards in 2019. Prior to joining the Bills, he spent most of his career with the Seattle Seahawks and their friendlier home environment for place kickers.
Bass connected on 54-of-68 (79.4 percent) of his field goals and 114-of-116 extra points at Georgia Southern, including 20-of-28 field goals (71.4 percent) during his senior year.
The Bills also released punter Lachlan Edwards, leaving third-year veteran Corey Bojorquez as the only punter on their roster.
