Bindi Irwin Honored Dad Steve Irwin in Her Wedding Ceremony to Chandler Powell
Bindi Irwin recently tied the knot to longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell in a private ceremony at the Australian Zoo and shared the sweet moment in a photo on her Instagram.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Bindi said in her Instagram post that she had to make the hard decision to keep everyone safe and not have guests at the wedding, but she also wanted to move forward with celebrating her special day.
“There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now," she wrote. "We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however, it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history.”
Undoubtedly, one of the best moments Bindi also shared from her wedding day was the tribute paid to her late father during the ceremony. She went on to say that the pair lit a candle in memory of the beloved Steve Irwin after exchanging their vows: “Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband, and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory.”
The newlywed couple first met at the Australian Zoo in November 2013, which only makes this ceremony even more sentimental. They became engaged last year, and just by the looks of this one photo, I can’t wait to see even more pictures from the big day.
